Namibia win toss and bowl in first ODI against South Africa

Namibia won the toss and chose to bowl in the first of three ODIs against South Africa at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek on Wednesday.

The teams have never met in the 50-over format before. The second match takes place on Friday with the final contest on Sunday.

Namibia, an Associate nation, and South Africa are two of the hosts, along with Zimbabwe, in next year’s ODI world cup. Namibia are hoping to qualify for that event while, given South Africa’s largely second-string team in this series, this is the start of the Proteas’ exploration into what a world cup squad will eventually look like.
