Richards Bay coach Gabriel is latest casualty

Ronnie Gabriel on Thursday became the latest coaching casualty in the Betway Premiership as he left Richards Bay after a poor start to the season.

A club statement said he resigned, although he was set for the sack after the club started the new season without a win in their first six matches.

Richards Bay were handed an embarrassing 5-1 loss in their derby against neighbours Milford last weekend, prompting the coaching change.

But Richards Bay did not announce who would be in charge this weekend when they host Sekhukhune United at KwaMashu on Saturday.

The 51-year-old Gabriel had been in charge over three seasons, taking command of 64 top-flight matches with 17 wins, 22 draws and 25 defeats.

Gabriel’s departure follows that of Cedric Kaze at Sekhukhune United; Lehlohonolo Seema at Siwelele and Phuti Mohafe at Marumo Gallants.
