Amakhosi dealt a blow when Kabelo Nkgwesa was shown a straight red card after just 14 minutes for handling the ball in the box, awarding Pirates a penalty.

Mpho Padime stepped up and coolly converted, granting Pirates an early lead. The pendulum swung back in favour of Chiefs when Steven Mendes equalized in the 26th minute, setting the stage for a gripping second half. Just three minutes after the break, Kamo Malefo found the back of the net with a deft close-range finish following a chaotic scramble in the box, sealing the win for the Amakhosi.
