Golden sweep for SA's Coetze in Glasgow

South Africa's Pieter Coetze stormed to his third gold of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Wednesday night, winning the Men’s 100m backstroke final in a Games record time of 51.77 to record a clean sweep in the three backstroke events.
Coetze's compatriot Ruard van Renen took bronze in 53.31 seconds, with England's Oliver Morgan claiming silver.

Kaylene Corbett earned her first medal of the Games with silver in the Women's 200m Breaststroke.
Corbett finished in 2:24.46 behind Scotland Angharad Evans, who held off the South African by a mere 0.67-s. Northern Ireland's Ellie McCartney picked up bronze.
