Kenya international Timothy Ouma has clinched loan deal with former Premier League side Charlton Athletic FC.

The English lower league side confirmed on Tuesday the acquisition of the Harambee Stars defensive midfielder on loan from Slavia Prague in Czech Republic.

"We are delighted to announce the signing of Kenya international Timothy Ouma on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, with an option to make the move permanent," stated the club.

Charlton Athletic FC manager Nathan Jones told the club’s official website that the 22-year-old had been on their radar for some time.

"Timothy is a player that we've monitored for a long, long time, and he comes with a real good pedigree," he said.

"He's an athletic, technical midfield player who has had some good experience, and he'll add real quality to our midfield."

Ouma has joined compatriot Collins Sichenje at the English team.

The towering midfielder has over 12 caps after having made his Harambee Stars' debut in 2021 while aged 17.

Ouma's professional career can be traced to Nairobi City Stars from where he got his breakthrough to Europe with Swedish side IF Elfsborg in 2022.

The Kenyan spent three productive seasons with the Swedish team before he signed for Slavia Prague last season, but was sent to eventual Polish league champions Lech Poznan on loan.

Ouma is among Addicks' new acquisitions this transfer window alongside Ivan Mesik, Billy Koumetio and Danny McNamara and Nathaniel Chalobah.
