De Bruin applauds Daisies and Women’s Super League 1
Springbok Women head coach Swys de Bruin complimented the players and management of the eight provincial sides that contested the 2026 Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1, saying that it provided the national coaching set-up with valuable insights and unearthed new talents.
De Bruin had special praise for the Isuzu Bulls Daisies, who won the competition for the fourth time in succession.
“The Daisies have set a benchmark for others to follow, there can be no doubt about that and I have to say, they hardly put a foot wrong all season,” said De Bruin.

“They really played at a good pace and intensity, giving their opponents a clear indication of what is needed to be successful at the top levels of the game.
“It was good to see that a number of players that played well for us in last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup continued that form into this competition.
“We also need to thank Pick n Pay for their involvement in particular, but also Vodacom and the other sponsors involved this year.”
The Isuzu Bulls Daisies make it four in a row, after claiming the Pick n Pay #WSL title at Loftus Versfeld.

The Springbok Women will have their first assembly of the year next week and De Bruin is hopeful that they can pick up the momentum created by the competition.
“We have some tough matches coming up this year as we move into the top tier of the game and it is good to know some players are battle hardened already. We will need that,” the coach concluded.
The Bulls Daisies not only finished the season unbeaten, but their players again dominated the points scoring statistics as well.
Jakkie Cilliers, who scored the most points in the last two seasons, did so again in 2026, adding 88 points to the Daisies’ overall tally, with 31 conversions and four tries.
Daisies wing Thobile Msizazwe topped the try-scoring list with 12 tries for the season. In total, the teams scored 1634 points, with 264 tries and 136 conversions adding to the excitement of spectators all around the country.
