Sai Sudharsan, the Gujarat Titans' elegant left-handed opener, set the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur alight on Saturday evening as the Titans launched a ferocious powerplay assault against the Rajasthan Royals in an IPL clash.

Sai was ice-cool and clinical, stroking an unbeaten 39 off just 22 balls — five fours, two sixes — refusing to give an inch while the Royals' bowlers unravelled around him. His captain, Shubman Gill, joined the carnage in spectacular fashion, smashing an unbeaten 32 off a mere 15 deliveries (5x4, 1x6), dismantling Jofra Archer with breathtaking authority. Together, this electric opening partnership put on 82 runs without loss in just six overs — a powerplay statement that had the Titans purring.

The Royals' bowling attack was a tale of chaos and carnage. Archer, usually the enforcer, endured a nightmare evening — leaking 33 runs off his two overs, spraying wides and no-balls while Gill took him apart with cuts, drives, and a majestic straight six that demanded to be watched on repeat. Tushar Deshpande (2-0-23-0) and Brijesh Sharma (2-0-26-0) fared little better, with Sai punishing anything short or wide with savage precision.

The debutant captain Yashasvi Jaiswal, thrust into the skipper's role following Riyan Parag's hamstring injury, had no answers as his three frontline seamers went wicketless and combined for 82 runs in six overs. South Africa's own Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj are yet to come to the crease with the ball — but they'll need something truly special to drag this back for the Titans from the batting end.

With 14 overs still to be bowled and a batting line-up that still features Jos Buttler, Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, and KG Rabada to come, the Titans look primed for a massive total. The Royals need a wicket — and they need it now.
