Milford & Kruger charge up for top MFC clash

With the Motsepe Foundation Championship heading toward the business end of the 2025/26 campaign, Milford and Kruger United will battle it out for top spot this weekend as the surge for automatic promotion rages on.

In what has been a dramatic season, particularly at the top end of the log, Milford and Kruger will go toe-to-toe on Saturday following less than impressive performances last time out.
Milford and fellow promotion-chasing side Cape Town City played to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday afternoon, while Kruger likewise dropped points following a 1-1 stalemate with Leicesterford City last Saturday.
Milford’s grip at the top of the pile has loosened during the last couple of weeks after registering a loss and a draw in their previous two encounters. Kruger on the other hand, have quietly gone about their business this season and are unbeaten in their last six league games.
Elsewhere, third-placed Cape Town City will be eager to get back in the winning column this week when they face Highbury on Friday. The Citizens are unbeaten in their last 11 matches, recording eight victories during this period as they trail log leaders Milford by one point.
Casric Stars, who are likewise seeking promotion to the PSL next season, are only three points adrift of the summit in fourth place while they prepare to take on Lerumo Lions on Saturday.
Prior to their recent 2-1 defeat to University of Pretoria, Casric went on a six-match unbeaten streak, while they also qualified for the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup by way of a 2-1 win over AmaZulu earlier this month.
Lower down on the table, The Bees will be hoping to defy the relegation zone gravity pull when they take on Upington City this Saturday.
The Bees recorded a 2-1 victory over Highbury last Sunday and moved four points away from the drop zone in the process. At the time, The Bees lost their sting during a spell of three consecutive losses and will now hope to produce sweeter results going forward.
