Defending champions Orlando Pirates will face Sekhukhune United in the semifinals of the 2026 MTN8, while Mamelodi Sundowns have been drawn against Golden Arrows following Sunday night's draw at FNB Stadium.

Pirates kept their dream of a fifth consecutive MTN8 crown alive after edging Durban City 2-1 in extra time in their quarterfinal clash.

The Buccaneers were pushed all the way by the 10-man KwaZulu-Natal outfit before Ghampani Lungu netted the winner late in extra time.

Sundowns also needed an additional 30 minutes to secure their place in the last four, overcoming Polokwane City 3-2 in an entertaining encounter at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Returning forward Cassius Mailula proved decisive, scoring the goal that sent Masandawana through.

Sekhukhune booked their semifinal berth after a thrilling 4-3 extra-time victory over AmaZulu in Sunday's seven-goal spectacle.

Usuthu took the lead, but Babina Noko fought back and eventually sealed progression courtesy of Vuyo Letlapa's extra-time strike.

The biggest shock of the opening round came at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where 15-time MTN8 champions Kaizer Chiefs crashed out following a 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows.

Khulekani Shezi scored the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute to hand Abafana Bes'thende a famous victory.
