The spotlight once again falls on some of Africa's brightest football talents in the Premier League as the nominees for the October 2026 SuperSport African Player of the Month award have been unveiled.

Representing five African nations and five different Premier League clubs, Alex Iwobi, Mohammed Kudus, Nicolas Jackson, Bryan Mbeumo and Abdul Ouattara have all been recognised for impressive contributions throughout October, continuing the strong African influence in one of the world's most competitive leagues.

The award, now in its third month, has already celebrated outstanding performances from across the continent's footballing diaspora. Manchester United's Bryan Mbeumo claimed the inaugural award in August, before Antoine Semenyo followed suit in September. Now a new winner is set to emerge, with fan voting open on the SuperSport Predictor platform.

Among the frontrunners is Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson, whose clinical finishing lit up October. The Aston Villa forward scored four goals in four appearances, including a match-winning brace against Manchester City and strikes against Brentford and Fulham. His prolific return made him the month's leading scorer among the nominees and underlined his growing importance in Villa's attack.

Cameroon's Bryan Mbeumo, already a previous winner of the award, once again showcased his consistency. The Manchester United attacker found the net twice in four outings, scoring against Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United as he continued to deliver in key moments for his side.

Nigeria captain Alex Iwobi earned his place on the shortlist after another influential month for Fulham. The midfielder scored against Hull City and helped his side record two clean sheets, while maintaining an impressive average rating of 7.7 per match, highlighting the all-round impact he brings beyond goals and assists.

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus also impressed with his creativity for Tottenham Hotspur. Although he did not get on the scoresheet, Kudus supplied assists against Coventry City and Crystal Palace, helping drive Spurs' attacking play during a productive October.

Completing the shortlist is Ivory Coast's Abdul Ouattara, whose contributions were spread across goals and assists for Ipswich Town. The versatile attacker scored against Fulham and added assists against Manchester City and Hull City, demonstrating his ability to influence matches in multiple ways.

With goals, assists and match-winning performances all represented among this month's nominees, fans face a difficult task in deciding who deserves the crown. Whether it's Jackson's ruthless finishing, Mbeumo's consistency, Iwobi's midfield mastery, Kudus' creativity or Ouattara's all-round contribution, each candidate has made a compelling case for recognition.
