Kaizer Chiefs have scored a considerable coup by securing the signature of international winger Elias Mokwana on a free transfer, after he ended his contract at Tunisian club Esperance two months ago.

Details of the new contact terms at Chiefs for the 27-year-old, who has won 11 caps for Bafana Bafana, were not made public when the club announcing his signing on Wednesday.

Mokwana, who hails from KwaMhlanga, returns to the Premier Soccer League after moving from Sekhukhune United to Esperance two years ago and also spending time on loan at Saudi club Al Hazem.

His signing will come as major boost for Chiefs who have slipped behind in the Betway Premiership standings and were knocked out of the African Confederation Cup.

Chiefs have won two of their last seven outings and were beaten in last Saturday’s Soweto derby.
