A squad of eight athletes landed in Gaborone earlier on Friday in search for a World Relays Championships qualifier in two events.

A squad of eight athletes landed in Gaborone earlier on Friday in search for a World Relays Championships qualifier in two events.

Chasing a slot in the 4x100m and Mixed Relays, a strong contigent of athletes will contest the Lefika international relays taking place on Saturday in the capital.

For South Africa, this is a race against time as the window of opportunity nears closure. Teams must qualify before the 5 April deadline.

Among the teams also participating are hosts Botswana, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
