Marizanne Kapp claimed 3-30 to help the Delhi Capitals Women restrict the UP Warriorz to just 122-8 after choosing to bowl first in their WPL match at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday evening before her national captain, Laura Wolvaardt, scored 47 to lay the platform for a comfortable five-wicket victory.

The victory put the DC Women into the Eliminator match against Gujarat Giants Women on Wednesday.

The winner will face the dominant Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women in the final.

Barbadian Chinelle Henry trapped big-gun Aussie and Warriorz captain, Meg Lanning, lbw with the first ball of the innings before Kapp bounced out another Australian, Charli Knott (12), who top-edged her attempted hook to ‘keeper Lizelle Lee.

Kapp had opener Deepti Sharma (24) caught at cover and added a second, high-profile overseas player to her list of scalps when Deandra Dottin (5) was trapped lbw leaving the innings in disarray at 52-5.

The Warriorz scraped together a semi-respectable total given their start but it never looked like being sufficient to cause an upset while Wolvaardt was at her elegant best stroking seven fours from just 36 balls.

Delhi captain, Jemimah Rodrigues, finished the job the in style with 34* from only 18 balls with five fours reaching 126-5 with eight balls to spare.

The result was critical to Delhi who were able to climb from fourth place to third, leap-frogging the Mumbai Indians Women into the final play-off place and eliminating MI Women.

The Warriorz only entertained a remote, mathematical chance of qualifying in the event of a huge victory but now finish in last place with just two wins from their eight group matches.

RCB Women progressed straight to the final after a dominant campaign with six wins from their eight games while Gujarat Giants Women, who finished in second place with five wins, will face Delhi (four wins) in the Eliminator match on Wednesday to reach the final.
