Sundowns and Al Ahly drop points as Wydad win again

Wydad Athletic Club maintained their perfect start to their Caf Inter-Club group stage campaign on Friday as Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points.

Al Ahly drew 1-1 with AS FAR Rabat in a Champions League group B match played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, where Trezeguet cancelled out Mouchcine Bouriga's opener.

Sundowns were held to 0-0 by MC Alger in a group D clash at the Ali La Pointe Stadium in what was a reunion between coach Rhulani Mokwena and his former employers.

Meanwhile, RS Berkane made it back-to-back wins in group A when they secured a 2-1 victory over Rivers United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

At the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium, JS Kabylie, who are two-time African champions, were held to a 0-0 draw by Young Africans, and the former remain winless in group B.

Three Confederation Cup matches were played on Friday, with Wydad claiming a 1-0 win over Azam thanks to Nordin Amarabat's goal at the Amaan Stadium.

A group D match between Zesco United and Al Masry saw the latter secure a 3-2 win at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Therefore, Al Masry made it two wins from as many matches.

Lastly, USM Alger maintained their 100 per cent win record in group A after emerging as 1-0 winners over Olympique de Safi at the El Massira Stadium, where Zakaria Draoui netted the only goal of the game.
