The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed a venue change for Chippa United's upcoming Betway Premiership fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The highly anticipated encounter, scheduled for 12 September 2026, will no longer be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha. Instead, the match will now take place at Buffalo City Stadium in East London, with kick-off remaining unchanged at 5:30pm.

The change follows concerns raised during a PSL inspection of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. In a statement issued on 7 September, Chippa United revealed that the venue had failed to meet the league's required criteria due to issues relating to the condition and maintenance of the playing surface.

As a result, the Chilli Boys sought approval from the PSL to relocate the fixture, with the league subsequently confirming Buffalo City Stadium as the new venue for the match.

The switch comes as an inconvenience to supporters who had already made travel and ticket arrangements for the original venue. Chippa United had earlier apologised to fans affected by the situation and assured them that further information regarding ticketing arrangements would be communicated.

Despite the venue adjustment, the fixture remains one of the standout matches of the early Betway Premiership season. Chippa United will be eager to claim a major scalp against a Mamelodi Sundowns side expected to once again challenge for league honours.
