Pirates & AmaZulu stretch winning runs as Chiefs blink again

Round 7 of the Betway Premiership saw Orlando Pirates record their fifth win in the local top tier, while Kaizer Chiefs dropped points again.

Kabelo Kgositsile and Nkosinathi Sibisi scored as Pirates beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 in Rustenburg on Sunday, moving to within a point of the leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs, on the other hand, were held 0-0 by Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Mbombela Stadium after Lebohang Maboe’s missed penalty, leaving Amakhosi fourth.

On Saturday, AmaZulu stayed third when Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya edged Polokwane City 1-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, and it was also Usuthu's third successive win.

Sekhukhune United climbed to sixth with a 3-2 win at Richards Bay through Tshepo Mokoena, Samba O’Neil and Ellis Rammala, despite Nqaba Xulu’s brace.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC ended a three-match winless run with a 1-0 victory over Kruger United in Mbombela, thanks to Keanan Johannesen’s first professional goal.

In Kameelrivier, Chippa United rose to ninth after Harold Majadibodu’s 62nd-minute strike settled a 1-0 win over struggling TS Galaxy on Sunday.

Lastly, Milford FC remained fifth after a 1-1 draw with 10th-placed Durban City at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
